The City of Calimesa Planning Commission will hold a public hearing on Monday, April 13, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. at the Norton Younglove Senior Center, 908 Park Avenue, Calimesa to consider a proposed improvement project at Tractor Supply, located at 1060 Calimesa Blvd. 

The request includes a 1,848-square-foot addition and interior remodel to the existing commercial building. The Planning Commission will also consider a determination that the project is categorically exempt from CEQA under Section 15301(c) for existing facilities. 

Members of the public may submit comments by mail, by email to ybenson@calimesa.gov, or by attending the meeting in person. Written comments must be received by 5:30 p.m. on April 13, 2026.

The City of Calimesa is excited to announce the soft opening of Mountainview Park on Saturday, April 11, 2026, at 9:00 a.m.

As part of the morning’s festivities, the city will host a Pickleball Clinic for community members ages 10 and older. Space is limited to 24 participants, and advance registration is required.

This soft opening is a great opportunity for the community to come out, enjoy the new park amenities, and take part in one of the featured recreational activities.

Participants registered for the Pickleball Clinic will be required to check in upon arrival and complete a waiver prior to participation.

The City of Calimesa is currently updating its Safety Element, an important component of the City’s General Plan that guides our long-term vision for the next 20 to 30 years. The Safety Element identifies both natural and human-caused hazards and establishes policies and actions to reduce risks to life, property, infrastructure, and community stability. This includes planning for hazards such as wildfires, flooding, drought, earthquakes, landslides, extreme heat, and other potential emergencies. Community input is a critical part of this update process.

The Safety Element addresses both natural and human-made hazards, as well as climate change impacts, and focuses on reducing risks to public safety, property, and the community.

Community participation is an important part of this process, and residents are encouraged to attend and share input.

Attendees will also have the opportunity to complete a survey to help shape Calimesa’s safety planning efforts.

The City of Calimesa is currently upgrading street signs throughout the community as part of an ongoing effort to improve visibility, safety, and emergency response. The new signs are designed with enhanced reflectivity and clearer formatting, making them easier to read for motorists while also providing critical location information that assists first responders in reaching residents more quickly and efficiently.

As older signs are replaced, they are being removed from service and may be made available through the City’s Decommissioned Street Sign Program. These signs once served an important role in guiding residents and visitors through Calimesa and now offer a simple way to preserve a small piece of the City’s history. They also make a unique keepsake for homeowners, businesses, or anyone with a connection to the community.

Proceeds from the program help offset the cost of the street sign replacement project, supporting the City’s commitment to maintaining safe, modern, and reliable infrastructure. The replacement process is conducted in phases, allowing the City to systematically upgrade signs across neighborhoods while ensuring consistency and quality citywide.

Purchasing a Decommissioned Street Sign

Decommissioned street signs are available for purchase at a cost of $35.00 per sign. All payments are collected in person at City Hall. All street sign sales are final and non-refundable.

After your request is submitted, City staff will contact you by email to coordinate a pick-up date and time. Payment is due at the time of pick-up.

Please be aware that these signs are previously installed and removed from active service. Their condition will vary depending on age and exposure to the elements. Signs may show signs of weathering, fading, scratches, or other normal wear. They are sold as-is and are not expected to be in new or like-new condition. This character is part of what makes each sign unique and reflective of its time serving the Calimesa community.
